Most school software assumes a family is two parents with smartphones and a shared email. Reality is a grandmother who is the primary caregiver, an uncle who pays the fees, a father who works abroad and just wants the photo from today. Design for the spreadsheet family and you lock out the real one.
If a feature needs a tooltip, it isn't finished โ it's hiding.
One child, many guardians
So a student in Valryon Edu has as many guardians as life requires, each with their own account and their own view. The primary caregiver sees the daily feed. The fee-payer sees the money. The grandparent gets Simple view: bigger type, the essentials, the pickup pass front and centre, nothing that needs explaining.
The pickup pass
The most-watched screen in the whole app is also the simplest โ a scannable pass that says "this is Amina, and I'm allowed to take her home." No menus, no settings, no onboarding. A grandmother at a noisy gate at 3pm doesn't need a product tour; she needs one big square that works.
We measure our design by the person furthest from a laptop. If it works for them, it works for everyone โ and the rest of the interface is just detail.
